In the year 1988 few eminent dentists from Bombay who were interested in dental implantology joined together to form a study group this was called as Bombay Society of Oral Implantologists (B.S.O.I.).
More and more dentists joined them to learn more about dental implants. In 1993 the name Bombay Society of Oral Implantologists was changed to Indian Society of Oral Implantologists (ISOI) and the society became a national body. In the year 1995, I.S.O.I. obtained affiliation to the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, (ICOI) USA.
The aims and objectives of the Indian Society of Oral Implantologists are to advance the science and art of Oral Implantology in all its phases, to foster research and education, to improve dental health and comfort of the public; to promote a high standard of ethics; to generally do all such acts consistent with promoting the exchange of current and innovative procedures, as well as basic and clinical research in all areas of Oral Implantology.
